Satan (as king) is defeated in 2011
His authority over the Elect to be is forever taken away
As we study the 3 examples of the third part of the great tribulations above we find that in each case God's people were no longer under captivity as the Egyptian pharaoh and the Babylonian kings died. But their kingdoms remained. All three instances show that although they were freed, they still lived within Satan's realm. In Jacob's instance they were freed but the Promised Land was ruled by many other nations. In Judah's instance they were freed but the Promised Land was still a territory of the Persian Empire (formerly the Babylonian Empire). In the Church's instance God's people were freed but the Promised Land (Church) is still under the unsaved's control and the world outside the Church (the world - Egypt... where the Elect reside) is under the control of the unsaved. So we can surely see that the year 2011 represents the year of when Satan "died" but his kingdom still remains until the End.
Satan's status
"Death" = no authority
But it appears that Satan was not actually killed outright. It's just a spiritual example relating to Satan's status. We can compare his "death" to the two witnesses' "death" in Revelation 11:7,
Revelation 11:7
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
The Law and the Prophets (the Bible)/Elect did not physically or spiritually die during the 8400 Day Geat Tribulation. Their power/authority to spread the warning and salvation was trampled upon and silenced.
Now back to Satan...
Satan's status during the Church Age
We have another example of Satan receiving a death blow. The Bible declares that Satan's head had received a deadly wound during the Church Age which was from 33A.D. until 1988. This wound was extremely severe, "as it were wounded to death".
Revelation 13:3
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
What did this represent? And whom did it affect?
* It limited Satan's ability to thwart salvation to anyone that God chose to save.
The Church Age was a period of testimony from God. Satan's deadly wound represented God limiting his authority to thwart someone from getting saved. It was like a Chess game or a war game. He was allowed to put obstacles in the way (as in false teachers) but he could not stop someone from getting saved (Matthew 13:19).
* It affected unsaved individuals that God planned to save.
Those whom were not saved but planned to be saved at a future time by the Lord.
* It also took away Satan's ability to have and control a physical empire.
Before the Cross Satan had and controlled actual physical kingdoms. These kingdoms were the Assyrian Empire, Babylonian Empire, Persian Empire, Greek Empire & Roman Empire.
Satan's status during the 2300 Days
Satan's deadly wound was healed at the start of the Great Tribulation. He had full reign within the Church due to the fact that God had abandoned it.
Satan's status during the 6100 Days
A logical question can be asked, if Satan was dealt a severe death blow during the time of testimony of the Church Age and his deadly wound was healed during the 2300 days, why was'nt he given another death blow during the 6100 days of final testimony? The answer is found in Revelation 18:2 where we find that Satan was caged within the Church for the entire 6100 days, therefore he was unable to thwart any Elect-to-be from salvation outside the Church.
We have now covered Satan's status during the Church Age, the 2300 days & the 6100 days.
Satan's status during these final 5100 Days
Going back to the original verse of this whole topic:
Daniel 7:11-12
I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
The captivity ended when the final person was saved (either inside or outside of the womb) and was no longer a captive to sin on Judgment Day - May 21, 2011. This was when the authority of Satan's kingdom against the Elect was defeated. The authority of any kingdom comes from its king. But the unsaved kingdom continues worldwide. We see in Daniel 7:26 (below) that this occurs at Judgment Day as his dominion is consumed/destroyed.
Daniel 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
Romans 6:7-9 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him
.
The word here in Romans, "dominion" also means to rule... another form of authority/jurisdiction. When a person is saved, Satan no longer has dominion over that person.
We find that God explains it a little further in the Book of Hebrews:
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil
This word "destroy" is the Greek word, katargeo (G2673). The meaning is to render entirely idle or useless.
So we can clearly see that the timing of Satan being "destroyed" at Judgment Day matches exactly with the previous 2 great tribulations of Jacob's and Judah's. And how the description of the words "destroy" coincide precisely with the release from captivity of the Elect - making Satan utterly useless because his war game of trying to prevent anyone from salvation is forever finished. His gig is up. Game over.
But what of the second part of the verse?
As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
What are these other beasts?
Reading Daniel chapter 7 we find that Satan's full kingdom throughout the Bible was represented as 4 beasts with 7 heads. The 7 heads are the representative kingdoms. These were representative of actual physical kingdoms such as the Assyrian Empire, the Babylonian Empire, the Persian Empire, Greek Empire and Roman Empire. He then had no empire (but was king) during the Church Age. But then attained the physical Church as his final 4th empire here on Earth, this is the 4th Beast.
This 4th kingdom has been conquered (the Beast slain/destroyed) on Judgment Day because God had saved every person that He had planned to save. But how can the 3 previous beasts with 6 heads of the other kingdoms (Assyrian/Babylonian/Persian/Greek/Roman/Church Age slain) still exist? Because all 4 beasts & heads represent Satan and his full empire. God is showing us that even though Satan was defeated his empire still exists worldwide... but without any authority over the Elect because all have now been saved.
This study also corresponds with the Book of Esther and the act of Purim. The Jews were freed from death as Esther (through the king) took away Haman's power (hung him) but his ten sons (his house) were allowed to remain alive until Purim. And we also see that even though the Jews were freed from death, they still remained outside their Promised Land. As we too are still here for a time.
