34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.



37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.


























43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.






















45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.


48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.















Matthew 24:34-51 (above) speaks of 4 groups of people. Lets take a very close look at each group.

1. The whole of humanity
Verses 34-42 tell us that absolutely no human being nor angel knows the day (verse 36) or hour (verse 42) our Lord cometh and at the passing away of heaven & earth. There is no scripture that allows the Elect to know the actual day and hour of Jesus' return, this is clearcut. It is repeated numerous times numerous ways.

2. The unsaved of the Earth
Verse 43 specifically describes the unsaved individual. God here gives us a clear example of the goodman of the house. A question immediately arises. Why was the household broken up by the thief if this was a goodman's house?  This word for "goodman of the house" actually means, head of the family or home owner. Why it was translated as goodman of the house is not known for it does not differentiate between good or bad. Perhaps because the thief is perceived of as the bad one. As we read this verse we find that the "goodman of the house" is actually an unsaved, non elect person. His house or treasure that is broken into is not stored in Heaven. Jesus will break through as a thief only unto the unsaved when He comes. The non elect will not be "awake" (spiritual eyes closed) and watching. 

Matthew 6:19-21  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Revelation 3:3  Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

It is also stated that the unsaved will not even know in what watch Jesus will come. The Church teaches that Jesus can come at any time. But they do not realize just how close that time is. A watch is a period of time consisting of several hours. There were 3 watches during the night. The beginning evening hours/the midnight hours/the before morning hours.

3. God's people/the Elect
Verses 43-47 specifically describe the Elect because it states, "Therefore be ye also ready...". But instead of saying that the Elect also can not know what watch, He reverts back to saying that the Elect can not know the hour. This gives us the impression that the Elect can know in what watch for they are the ones whom the Lord shall, "give them meat in due season" (verse 45).

4. The 10 Virgins (5 Elect/5 non-elect)
Verses 45-51 shows us a perfect example of the 10 Virgins. These 10 Virgins are most likely all the 2011 believers. Five are bewildered and confused as per Judgment Day and  why the Earth still remains but know the Timeline seems to be correct and are still watching and waiting. And the other five have denounced the Timeline and denounced Judgment Day as a false prophesy, therefore are no longer watching nor waiting. Notice the distinction of how that final hour/day will come upon each of the 5 virgins:

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not (G1380) the Son of man cometh. - 5 with oil
    G1380 - to suppose, consider, imagine. 
    
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not (G4328) for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of (G1097) - 5 without oil
G4328 - to not anticipate, not await.     G1097 - to not know in a concrete manner, to absolutely not know.


STUDY POINT:  It appears as though the Lord is telling His Elect through these parables that they can not know the day nor hour but they can know in what watch He shall return.

MARK 13

Mark 13 is a partial mirror of Matthew 24 in that they both have an almost identical verse declaring no man or angel knows the day or hour. But this verse also includes "the son". The "son" mentioned here can not refer to the Son of God (Jesus). It has to refer to the son of perdition (Satan). Jesus is God. If the Father knows/Jesus knows.

John 17:12  While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Verse 33 uses a generic way of describing the Rapture occasion. That we know not when the time is. And this is very true. The 24+ time zones can refer up to two separate days.

Verse 35 appears to be referring to the final day/hours. Because when we compare Paul's journey in Acts 27 & the 10 Virgins in Matthew 25, we find that the Lord gives us an outright declaration that He will not return at the beginning of the evening as the 10 virgins thought. Nor return at midnight because that is when the "cry" went out for the 10 virgins yet there was still a period of time afterwards to try and get their oil and Paul's crew deemed the land was close so they grounded the ship with anchors and waited at 15 fathoms. What we do not know is whether He returns at the cockcrowing or morning. Does morning represent the Elect at the Rapture or later in Heaven? Not that it matters, just technicalities.

And of course as verse 37 commands - we are always told to keep watch.

33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.











The whole chapter of Luke 12 describes what will happen when Jesus returns. The word "watching" in verse 37 actually means to be awake or alert. These are those whom... "that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately", because they are watching (awake/alert). Does this mean that the Elect have to know the date of His return? No. There will be multitudes that probably won't know or hear the "cry" that He will be coming in 2025 (?). To be awake is to not be asleep or blind to the Truth. But, conforming to the rest of Luke 12 and other scripture we do know that we are to watch for His return and send out the cry in due season. So it appears to have a dual meaning.



NO CREATED BEING KNOWETH THE DAY NOR HOUR

Jesus' sermon on the Mount of Olives to His disciples
The Lord gives us a tremendous amount of information concerning these final days. When we combine all three accounts of the sermon and place them in sequential order we get a better perspective. Lets take one section at a time.



No created being knows the day nor hour
The first section tells of how no man, angel or the son knows the day nor hour of the passing away of heaven and earth. Pretty clear cut. NO man, angel or the son knoweth the day nor hour. This is why the Lord repeats it over and over. But the son? This can only be referring to the son of perdition (Satan) because the Son of man (Jesus) is part of the Trinity therefore He knows.

Judgment Day
Very important, pay attention (please see the Matthew 24 study). Verse 36 finalizes everything He has been telling us about His salvation plan. In verse 37, He now reverts back to Judgment Day (verses 20 - 33). We know this because He is comparing Judgment Day with Noah's Flood as they both landed on the same date... the seventeenth day of the second month. We now understand that verses 37 - 41 is speaking as Jesus reaped the final harvest here on earth of salvation via the great winepress during the 1600 furlongs. Judgment Day. This is "the coming of the Son of man" that is referred to here. Not the End Day. Another clue is in verse 41. Grinding refers to working the wheat. The process of salvation and sending it out. This work ended on Judgment Day. All work ends at evening (Matthew 20:8) when there is no Light, Judgment Day.

Noah and his family knew the day yet not the hour (Genesis 7:4) but the unsaved knew not either. Verse 42 declared to us that we could just not know the hour of His coming on Judgment Day. But we assumed that we could know the day like Noah did. We now understand through this experience that we did know the date of Judgment Day yet not the day because of all the 24+ time zones. That is why we are commanded to watch.

42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;


46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.











The whole chapter of Luke 12 describes what will happen when Jesus returns. The word "watching" in verse 37 actually means to be awake or alert. These are those whom... "that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately", because they are watching (awake/alert). Does this mean that the Elect have to know the date of His return? No. There will be multitudes that probably won't know or hear the "cry" that He will be coming in 2025 (?). To be awake is to not be asleep or blind to the Truth. But, conforming to the rest of Luke 12 and other scripture we do know that we are to watch for His return and send out the cry in due season. So it appears to have a dual meaning.



THE UNSAVED KNOWS NOT IN WHAT WATCH

Jesus speaks of the whole flock
Mark & Luke begin this second section by describing how the master left all His servants with authority until their work was finished as He would return during the night. Luke continues on by saying to be ready and your light burning and waiting for the Lord. This whole section is an excellent alternate depiction of the 10 virgins parable. Jesus is speaking of all the believers following Him but starts to separate the flock in verses 36-38. Verse 38 blesses "those" servants that still have the persistence to watch even late in the night instead of giving up. This is a clue to when He might return... in the second or third watch.

Mark 13:35-37 now refers again to all the servants as a whole. Jesus tells them that... "ye (the believers in general) know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning".Those whom are sleeping are'nt watching and therefore won't know what watch He cometh. But is there an exception for those whom are awake and watching? There appears so for He declares something different for the unsaved vs the Elect in the final verses of the home owner...



The home owner and the thief
God here gives us a clear example of the goodman of the house. A question immediately arises. Why was the household broken through by the thief if this was a goodman's house?  This word for "goodman of the house" actually means, head of the family or home owner. Why it was translated as goodman of the house is not known for it does not differentiate between good or bad. Perhaps because the thief is perceived of as the bad one. As we read this verse we find that the "goodman of the house" is actually an unsaved, non elect person. His house or treasure that is broken into is not stored in Heaven. Jesus will break through as a thief only unto the unsaved when He comes. The non elect will not be "awake" (their spiritual eyes closed) and watching. 

Matthew 6:19-21  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Revelation 3:3  Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

It is also stated in verse 43 that the unsaved will not even know in what watch Jesus will come. The Church teaches that Jesus can come at any time. But they do not realize just how close that time really is. A watch is a period of time consisting of several hours. There were 3 watches during the night. The beginning evening hours/the midnight hours/the before morning hours.



God's people/the Elect
Verse 44 specifically describes the Elect because it states, "Therefore be ye also ready...", thereby differentiating the unsaved from the saved. But instead of saying that the Elect also can not know what watch, He reverts back to saying that the Elect can not know the hour. This gives us the impression that the Elect can know in what watch for they are the ones whom the Lord shall, "give them meat in due season" (verse 45). In fact, out of all the verses that state ye know not the day/hour/time, this is the only time that Jesus changes the word and makes a distinction between what the unsaved and the Elect shall not know concerning the End.

Peter asks for clarification
Luke 12:41 brings attention to whom the previous parable is meant for. Jesus answers Peter's question by expanding on that parable with additional information. Immediately He declares that the "faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, will give them their portion of meat in due season". We must ask ourselves, when is this "meat in due season"? Did we receive "meat in due season" during the 8400 Days? Yes we did. That is how we understood the Timeline and Judgment Day. But Jesus here is specifically referring to the time after Judgment Day. We know this because He mentions that the unsaved servants said in their hearts, "... My lord delayeth his coming". This is our current situation. We find another example of this "meat in due season" after Judgment Day within Daniel 11:34:

Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

Jesus always explained His parables to His disciples throughout scripture. Yet we find that as this parable was meant for all, He never explained this one to them. Which seems to support the broad statement of verse 35...
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning

Standing alone this verse seems to imply that no one can know in what watch He shall return. But as we have seen in the previous section Jesus only declared that the non-elect would not know in what watch... not the Elect. When we add this additional information that the Elect will be given meat in due season after Judgment Day we see that verse 35 was true that no one knew in what watch the master would come. But now we can know.


Parables
What is the biblical purpose of a parable? To declare the mysteries of Truth to all that hear yet keep the meaning hidden except to those whom He shall explain it to. 

Matthew 13:10-11  And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?  11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Matthew 13:34-35  All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:  35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.



The 10 Virgins (5 Elect/5 non-elect)
Verses 45-51 shows us a similar example of the 10 Virgins. These 10 Virgins are all the 2011 believers. Five are bewildered and confused as per Judgment Day and why the Earth still remains but know the Timeline seems to be correct and are still watching and waiting. And the other five have denounced the Timeline and denounced Judgment Day as a false prophesy, therefore are no longer watching nor waiting. Notice the distinction of how that final hour/day will come upon each of the 5 virgins:

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not (G1380) the Son of man cometh. - 5 with oil
    G1380 - to suppose, consider, imagine. 
    
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not (G4328) for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of (G1097) - 5 without oil
G4328 - to not anticipate, not await.     G1097 - to not know in a concrete manner, to absolutely not know.



STUDY POINT:  As we have seen from the comparisons of Matthew, Mark & Luke describing Jesus' sermon on the mount, no created being can know the day or hour. From the evidence given, the evil servants would also not even know in what watch the master would return because they were not watching but not so for the wise and faithful servants, it appears that they knew in what watch the master would return because they were watching.

With the comparison of Matthew, Mark & Luke we find that the non-elect know not the hour, watch nor day of His coming yet the Elect are privy to what watch.
