THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST
There are two Beasts that arise. Which one?
The Origin of the Image of The Beast
We find the first mention of the Image of the Beast in Revelation 13
Revelation 13
11 And I beheld another beast (Second Beast) coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them
that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
* Notice that they are to make an Image to the First Beast (which had the wound by a sword, and did live... the kingdom).
Not that they are to make an Image of the First Beast. So, it is an image or likeness of the Second Beast that is made. In fact, we see two other verses that show that this Image is of the Second Beast (the Beast king). It is the Second Beast king that causeth all to receive his mark in their hand or forehead. It goes on to say that the Image, mark and number of his name are all his.
Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads
Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
* The Second Beast (the king) is the one whom commands the people (ten crowns = congregation) to make an Image to the First Beast. Remember the First Beast is Satan's kingdom to which the Church now belongs. So, Satan makes the congregation to make an Image to/for the Church to be worshipped.

* God's people being the 1/3rd ("333/333%") do not worship him

1/3rd ("33/33%"), God's people who did not worship the image

The Image of the Beast
An image is a likeness or representation of someone or something. In this case, we find that this is an Image of the Beast. This is the Beast that arose from the earth. Therefore it is the Image of the king of the kingdom. The Dragon king.
The First Beast and the Second Beast arise together

We now know that the Image is of the Second Beast (the king)
but what is it's purpose?
There are two godly images spoken of in the New Testament
The Elect
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
1Corinthians 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
The Elect are the image of the Creator. And a visible representive of the kingdom of God.
Jesus Christ
2Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Colosians 1:14-15 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Jesus is the image of the Father. He was a visible representitive of the Father here on Earth. Jesus not only was a "man" that the world could see and identify with but He is also the Word of God which is living scripture - the Bible. And also the Lamb of God... Savior of the world.

So now lets get back to the question of, what is the Image's purpose?
Satan has taken over the Church and it's hiarchy (government). He does'nt want to physically destroy the Church but instead deceitfully take it over.
Daniel 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

JESUS CHRIST - THE IMAGE OF THE KING (GOD)
Jesus is both King...
Jesus is King of kings just as the Father.
John 12:15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
... and the Prince of peace
God the Father is the King thus Jesus the Son is the Prince.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The Word of God
Scripture is the living Word of God, the Bible. He speaks to the Elect.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
Revelation 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
The Lamb of God... the Savior
Jesus is the Savior of the world.
John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
THE ANTICHRIST - THE IMAGE OF THE KING (SATAN)
Satan is both the King...
Satan becomes king of Babylon...the Church.
Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Revelation 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
... and the prince of "peace"
Satan becomes the false Christ within his Church.
Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

Satan makes his Image come to life and speak through corrupt scripture & doctrines.
Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Revelation 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
The lamb of god... the false christ (savior)
By unknowingly worshipping Satan they deny Jesus as the Christ.
Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

1. The Image of God is Jesus Christ
The Image of Satan is the false christ
Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
2. Jesus is the Word of God. He speaks to us through scripture.
The false christ is the word of Satan. He speaks through corrupt scripture.
Revelation 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
3. Jesus as the savior is worshipped
The false christ as the savior is made to be worshipped

4. Except for those whom are athiests, a logical "believer" would never deny Jesus as the Savior.
1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
By unknowingly worshipping the false christ they are denying the True Christ.
